Appaloosas Shine at PA State 4-H Horse Show
Each October, the best 4-H riders from all over Pennsylvania convene for the State 4-H horse show in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. To qualify for the horse show, the riders must place high enough at regional and district horse shows to earn a spot to compete at the state horse show.
Several years ago, the Keystone Appaloosa Club began sponsoring a scholarship for the highest placing English and western rider who is on board a registered appaloosa horse. Each high point riders is awarded $500 toward college or trade school to help them further their education.
This year 13 riders and their appaloosa mounts made it to the state horse show and were eligible for the high point award and scholarship.
The 2023 High Point Western Rider was Ava Fedak riding PCE Lopin For Diamonds. Ava was the Reserve Champion in Western Horsemanship 15 to 18. She placed 3rd in Western Grooming and Showmanship15-18 , 3rd in Open Trail Horses 14-18 and 7th in Western Pleasure Horses 14-18.
The 2023 High Point English Rider was Caitlana Otero riding Blue Thru N Thru. Caitlana placed 3rd in English Grooming and Showmanship ages 8- 11, 4th in Breed Type Hunter Under Saddle Horses 8-11 and 10th in Hunt Seat Equitation on the Flat 8-11.

Brecken Banasutti riding Rock on Zippo placed 9th in Ranch Riding 8-13.
Charlotte Duncan riding Don’t Tread on Me placed 3rd in Breed Type Hunter Under Saddle Horses 8-13.
Emma Dunlap riding Skip The Lineup placed 4th in English Grooming and Showmanship 12-14 and 6th in Breed Type Hunter Under Saddle Horses 14-18.
Emily Snippert riding Lookin to Heaven placed 9th in Western Pleasure 14-18 and was a finalist in Western Showmanship and Western Horsemanship 15-18
Jessica Fox showing NL Legs Lines N Looks was the Champion in Western Grooming and Showmanship 12-14 and placed 5th in Western Horsemanship 12-14.
Parker Haydt riding Skipa Star Goer placed 9th in Ranch Riding 14-18 and 3rd in Pleasure Horse Driving.
Payge Haydt also riding Skipa Star Goer placed 9th in Low Working Hunter Horses.
Harper Hein showing Positively Chocolate placed 9th in Western Grooming and Showmanship 8-11.
Elisa Rawlings riding Invitingly Rageous placed 4th in Western Grooming and Showmanship 8-11.
Orly Sofian riding Chipped in Stone was 7th in Beginner Western Pleasure.
Sophia Thornhill piloting Miracles Do Happen placed 4th in Beginner Western Horsemanship and 10th in Beginner Western Pleasure.
